Monday 25 January 2010

Yesterday it was lovely to see Marianne & Becky and see Amelia and Evie play together. I didn't get downstairs till nearly 12 though with all the things that have to be done to me. (I won't go into anymore detail!) Then had a lovely time with Lisa who gave me a massage and painted my nails and then did Sophie's and her daugher Natalie's. Unfortunately Sophie was very sick last night and I worry about the amount of work Giles had to do - washing her hair, changing the bed and setting up the ready bed for her. It has been lovely that Sophie has been off today and she wants to have tomorrow off too - I think just to be with me.

Today Jo B popped in and my brother is sorting out my ipod and other electrical things I'm no good at. Went out after lunch in my chariot but I was really feeling quite tired, in pain and nauseous and got very cold. Was a bit negative. Kept thinking of how different I am now to a few weeks ago. But I did feel completely exhausted and then went to bed to sleep for 2 hours and I haven't moved from the bedroom since! Hoping its still the effects of radiotherapy and that I will regain some more strength soon!

Every girl needs a pamper! I am sure it has done you the world of good. You look amazing, and are hiding well the pain of what you are going through. Lovely to see the pictures of the 3 blonde girls.
Hope your strength comes back soon.

As a very strict teacher, my professional opinion on Sophie having an extra day-off school is quite clear: go on, let her have the day with you! What great photos! Thank you for sharing them with us.

Dear Katie,

I have been following your blog since Christmas when your mother sent a news letter to my mother.

As a child, I lived next door to your grandmother in Cuffley. I used to play Monopoly with your mother, her brother Malcolm and Juliet. I can remember your mother's lovely long blonde hair - which is obviously where you get it from!

I have many golden memories of that time, and memories do remain and become even more precious as time goes by.

Our niece was only 7 when her mother died. She has now grown up and last year she herself had a baby girl. She named her after her beloved mother.

I can see from your blog how loved you are by your family and friends. They will have many golden memories of you and as your children grow into adulthood and have children of their own, their memories of you will become even more precious.

I will continue to pray for you and your family.

Carolyn

Glad you did manage to get out today. And it looks like you had a really full on day yesterday even after we left - nails and a massage sound great. Hope Sophie is feeling better - she will definitely need another 24 hours off though! I love the pictures too - I will show them to Amelia tomorrow. I am thinking of you, and hope you feel less tired tomorrow. Lots of love, Rebecca.

Katie, it was so lovely to see you yesterday, in the heart of your family, with the house all buzzing with children and conversation. Thank you for finding the strength to spend so much time with us. I hope Sophie is feeling much better now but still gets to spend another day with her Mummy. And I hope Giles survived the day after a broken night as well. Lovely to see your Mum after many years as well! Thinking of you as always, lots of love

i've been wanting to leave you a message for a while now, but never quite know what to say or how to say it! i was chatting to Giles walking down to pick to children up from school, all i wanted to do was ask about you, but for some stupid reason i couldn't. Poor Giles, please apologies for my mundane chat!
I just wanted to let you know that i think you are a truly inspirational women, so brave and positve. There is not a day that goes by that i dont think about you and your beautiful family.

Hi Katie,

I don't know if you remember me but my daughter Elouise used to be in Nursery at Wheatcroft with Sophie and they were quite good little buddies at the time, along with Kallie Batchelor.

I just wanted to say that I think about you and how strong you are every day - I cannot believe how you are coping under such extreme circumstances and I really, truly admire you for this. It has made me think about my life more for certain as you don't realise how presious it is, we just take it all for granted!!

My prays and thoughts are with you and all of your family. You still look so amazing and beutiful through all this pain - your family will certainly have some wonderful memories and photos whatever happens.

Love and best wishes

Dear Katie
I hope you don't mind but I've let a few of your old Cuffley and Goffs School friends know about your illness (only the ones that knew you well). Jo Knowells said you are finding comfort in hearing from people and a few old friends have said how sad they are for you so I thought you might like to hear from them and for them to read your plight. I can't stop thinking about you and feel so sad there is no cure for this terrible rotten disease. I hope you are finding comfort in the messages left for you from old and current friends! I wish you well Katie and keep fighting! You are an inspiration and I am in awe at how strong and brave you are. With lots of love, Nicola Odam (Keeling) xx

Great photos... you look really fabulous :)
We are glad that you got to do something pamper-ish... there is so much prodding and poking involved when you are poorly... pampering is much nicer.
Focus on one great day at a time and they will turn from one into many.
Still with everything crossed and wishing you lots of love, S & A xxx

Maybe you could let each of the kids have a day off on their own and have you all to themselves. Sam's a very different little boy when Marthe's not around and vice versa.
Love the pics.
I'm planning on popping across and join the school run so I get to see everybody all at once.
as always thinking about you,
love,
Lieve
