Katie continues to fight. She had the worst night ever last night- feeling nauseous the whole time, feeling anxious, and with various aches and pains. She at least got moved to a single room in the private wing late last night and hopefully she will be transferred to the hospice later this morning. (They dont normally admit over the weekend but we have had various people putting pressure on to bend the rules slightly!)
She doesnt have the energy to read her messages herself now but I read them to her so thank you for all your support.

Thinking of you all.

Katie - yet again you're showing us your incredible mental strength and energy - you're doing tremendously in the face of such discomfort. I've been thinking of you continually throughout yesterday and last night - you are such a special friend to me, and I'm so grateful we met all those years ago in Hughes Parry - I'm so glad we were all put on the 6th floor together! And in all the years since you've been such a good friend to me - such a support in difficult times and such great fun in all the happy times we've spent together. And it's always been lovely when you, me, Marianne and Dawn have got together - even though, at different times, one of us has lived far away! Am thinking of you loads and sending all my love to you, Giles and all your incredible family.

Dear Katie,

It is times like this that I find it hard to keep my belief. I just try to think that this is not a punishment, but a Guardian Angel test. You, BB, have got to have passed your test with distinction, and I am sure you will put your qualification to good use.

It is said that friends come into your life for a reason. Your courage and strength now drives me to do things that I think are unachievable. I "can" is going to be in my vocabulary more than I "can't". I will also stop wasting my time and energy worrying over what other people think all the time. I am what I am. Good or bad!

We have shared some good times over the past 7 years, and those memories will stay in my heart forever. I want to write something funny to make you laugh, but somehow that doesn't seem to be appropriate right now.

Thank you for being my friend. I am truly blessed.

Dear Giles and Katie
I also want to reiterate thanks to you Giles for continuing to post the updates. I have been reading the entries even when I haven't posted a reply and I, like the others, very much appreciate you doing this at this difficult time.

Katie - others have used the same words I would to describe you. Before all this started, you were just "lovely Katie"!! - the girl I met at nursery swimming and who always managed to look so gorgeous! I was secretly thrilled when you admired my swimming costume!!
Now, through this fight of yours, I have seen so much more and I'm sure just a small part of what those who are close to you know as the whole you - you are such an amazing person and truly inspirational. Your blogs have been brutally honest and your wonderful sense of humour shines through, as does your love for those close to you.
I hope you are comfortable today and somewhere calm where you can save your energy for spending with your lovely family.
Thinking of you always

Dearest Katie
Last night sounded terrible but you fought on amazingly and I sincerely hope you have now been moved into more comfortable and peaceful surroundings so that you can feel more tranquil. I've been searching for some words to be motivating and encouraging but words don't really seem to do justice to what you've done already and are continuing to do. So perhaps it's better to tell you what I feel about you, my lovely friend. You've always been such a gentle and thoughtful friend to me, ever since we first met in ULU orchestra and Hughes Parry. You've been my model for a great mum. I really valued you coming to help me that first day I looked after Jonathan by myself, when I was so scared I wouldn't cope. You've always kept in touch, even when for a few years our lives went in different directions, and you had to wait patiently for us to catch up with having children! Even recently, when you've been suffering so badly, you cared enough to remember my (very minor) operation and text and call me to see how I was. Wow, that's real friendship. You've also always been such a great partyer, and we had some hilarious times in hall, orchestra and later in Archway, trying to keep Mr Murthy at arms length. Do you remember the massive Chinese meal you cooked for about 20 people?! There was so much rice we had to use the washing up bowl!! You've never done things by halves and you have shown me that life can be lived to the full. I'll always treasure our friendship and the times the four of us have had. Hoping that you are feeling a bit better now, and thinking of you all the time.
Thank you to Giles for helping us stay in touch with you.
All our love to you all.

Hello to you all at this time.
I am recalling the first time I ever set eyes on Katie, it was when I was out in my garden many years ago and both of you had arrived on a weekend visit to Giles' parents ( for the benefit of others we are neighbours and friends of Ursula and Chris - Giles' parents in Kent ) Ursula had already discussed her excitement at meeting Katie, and had obviously sensed that Giles was very keen on her!!
Yes, we were not disappointed, such a very attractive young woman arrived, looking the perfect companion for Giles - a very handsom couple.
From that day onwards, although we rarely see each other, I feel I know you both well because of the lovely accounts Ursula gives of your busy lives.
Your wedding day, in that lovely venue, with a beautiful silver dress and a chocolate wedding cake - yum!!
I remember when Sophie was born and you brought her to Kent for the first time, my Austin was just a year old himself at that time and we exchanged the usual mother/baby worries - breast feeding etc !!!!
When I last saw you before Christmas time you looked your usually lovely self, so calm and together despite having 3 young ones to run around after! There I was in my usual DIY clothes that you always seem to catch me in when you visit Kent - doing yet another job on our house !!!
I've never had the opportunity to meet your parents Katie, but if they are anything like your in-laws, then I'm certain you have a lovely family all around you who will always support your little ones forever, no matter what the outcome of all this.
Two candles are alight in my kitchen tonight, facing Chris and Ursula's house. This is a close as they can be to you. One is for you and the other for your lovely family.
Always thinking of you.
Louise David, Austin and Amos.

Dear Katie

I was in Whitstable yesterday and sat looking at the bluey gray calm sea stretching out before me as far as I could see - almost to forever. And I thought about our many talks about how and why and what can we do to help ourselves.

I thought for a long time about how much you have put into living your life with positive joy and awareness and purpose and want you to know that you, more than anyone I have ever worked with, have made your thoughts become reality. You deserve every scrap of love that your friends and family have given you and I wish you peace and comfort.

Continuing to think of you and also of Giles and your lovely children and family and sending them hope and courage.
