Friday 5 March 2010

Today (yesterday by the time I actually write this) was an emotional day but no where near as bad as last Monday. Personally I did my goodbyes to Katie then and today was about saying goodbye to her unused body - her spirit was already in Heaven - thats the way the children saw it too and it helped a lot.
It was great to have all of the close family together. It was a lovely service - led by Rev Jo Loveridge - whom many of you will see on Sunday. Katie's Dad did a reading, Sophie read her poem and then we each placed a rose on Katie's pink coffin. Yes pink! Dulux sexy pink no less! It looked great. Just as she would have wanted. I am just debating whether to put a picture on here - I suspect Katie would have wanted to.
After the service we all went to the George and Dragon in Watton at Stone and rounded off the day perfectly. No prizes for guessing the colour of the pub!

She lives on...
With her own beautiful touch and warm presence in "sexy pink" it is wonderful to see that she lives on in all of you.
Such a person like her will be forever in many hearts.
I thought of you all yeterday and kept many a silent thought and prayer for her, a blessing was said for her and you all in our family church in Broxbourne for her too last Sunday.
It is very kind that you still let us know how things are progressing and sharing another photo or 2 of a very personal day.
Love to you all and may the party go well on Sunday
Much love to you all

Pink is the universal colour of love and it seems apt as an expression of the person she was and will always be in all our hearts.Forever.

With Love to you all

You are so dignified and I'm sure that Katie is looking down on all of you and feeling very proud. I'm sure there will be alot of pink on Sunday which I am sure Katie would love. Thinking of you all. I have never in my life read such beautiful comments hundreds of pages full of love. i did not know katie for long but she has had such an effect on so many people. How proud you must be Giles.
One minute in Heaven
Is equal to 100 years on Earth;
For us, the next 10, 20, 50 or even 75 years,
Living without a loved-one hurts;
But for them, it'll be like you dropped them off at a restaurant
And parked the car.
They'll turn and spot you and say:
"OH! There you are!"

Dear Giles, it was the most beautiful day on Fair Isle yesterday. Blue sky, hardly a cloud in sight, calm, sunny and almost warm. As soon as I woke I thought of you and your clan and your special day. As I said we would, we picked the first tiny daffodils from the burn in our garden and myself and my youngest two children (Raven and Ythan)and the puppy (!) walked to a beautiful spot. Its called 'the Raevas' and we stood on the clifftop where we watched the sea crashing in to the rocks at the bottom and the seabirds flew round our heads. We each said goodbye to Katie and threw the daffodils into the breeze. Most of them went to the sea and a few landed on the cliffside. I did try to take a photo as you asked but as you know Deryk is away, so it is of the children before they threw the flowers. I will send it once Deryk is back. I was thinking of you all day - and still am. I do hope it all went well and you, the children, Katies family and friends all enjoyed celebrating her life at a time that must also be unbearably difficult.
All our love.
Hollie Fyntan Raven and Ythan - also Deryk and Lachlan (in absentia!)
