Katie says a big thank you for the jokes and lovely poems etc. They have cheered her up despite today being another difficult day. She has been feeling very tired, she is still in lots of pain and one of her blood tests was slightly abnormal - her ALT (a liver enzyme) was up and the team will recheck it tomorrow to see if she can go ahead with chemo. Please keep everything crossed!

Well, we missed the jokes day but Andy has this cracker that he just made-up (apparently) at lunch...

Two bees are acting out a scene from Top Gun. What does one say to the other?...

"It's time to buzz the flower!"

He is very proud of that one :))

Wish you were here because he is just brimming over with the old jokes that you know and love... we will send them by telepathy instead.

Was thinking of you this morning as we cruised around the Andaman Islands looking for a snorkelling spot... it is so beautiful here and thriving with energy. We have been directing it towards you and hope that it helps.

Wishing you lots of love and luck for the chemo... keep fighting girl!

Okay, time for another bee joke...

Jack arrives home and tells Belinda, "I can't believe it! I've just been stung by a bee."
"What happened?" Exclaimed Belinda.
"Four quid for a jar of honey!!"...

Love and hugs,

Sara & Andy

Katie,

thought you might like this quote from Winnie the Pooh:

"If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart and I'll stay there forever".

And another one of my awful jokes:

Two dogs are walking down the road when one suddenly crosses over, spends a few minutes sniffing a lamp-post before crossing back over again.
"What did you do that for?" asks the other dog.
"Just checking my messages", says the other.

Lots of love

Hi Katie

I missed the jokes day too, just as well as I'm rubbish at telling them and Si's jokes go on forever so I won't ask him for one.

Heres is a quick one anyway

Whats orange and sounds like a parrot?

A carrot! Grooooaaan.

We have been thinking of you all loads and hope and pray the chemo can start and works to give you the relief you expect.

Keep hold of that Hope, as we do everyday.

all our love

Savita (and Si)

Hi Katie,

I just spoke to your mum, really praying that you were able to have chemo today and more importantly that the snow doesn't prevent you from going home, or seeing the children! As I am typing it's really coming down here, it's so beautiful and incredibly quiet. I braved Tesco yesterday and there was a real siege mentality going on with loots of things sold out and people rushing around before the snow arrived.

I have rude joke, is that allowed?! Will have a think and maybe post it later.....

Lots and lots of love to you our prayers are with you all.

Anna and James

Dear Katie,

you're bravery is amazing, and sustains all around you - give yourself permission to take a little back sometimes and use all that positive love surrounding you to carry you along - not being brave is not the same as not fighting or being positive - we're all allowed to be children again at times in our lives. I found this:
Cancer is so limited that:

It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit

I am so sad to read what you are going through at the moment. I am praying that you are able to have chemo and it works for you. You are such a brave lady, it makes me feel very humble. Thank goodness you have such a beautiful family around you.
Here's my favourite naff joke of the moment for you-

Hi Katie, I hope that they can go ahead with the Chemo today, and that you are able to go home soon. I hope that you appreciate this joke...

A Scottish lawyer and a Yorkshireman are sitting next to each other on a train from London. The lawyer is thinking that Yorkshire men are all 'cloth cap and clogs' and that he can fool them easily...
So the lawyer asks if the Yorkshireman would like to play a fun game. The Yorkshireman is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines and tries to catch a few winks. The lawyer persists and says that the game is a lot of fun. 'I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me only £5; you ask me one, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you £500.' As may be expected, this catches the Yorkshireman's attention and to keep the lawyer quiet, he agrees to play the game.
The lawyer asks the first question. 'What's the distance from The Earth to the moon?' The Yorkshireman doesn't say a word, reaches in his pocket, pulls out a five-pound note, and hands it to the lawyer. Now, it's the Yorkshireman's turn, he asks the lawyer, 'What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?'
The lawyer uses his laptop, searches all the references he knows, he uses the air-phone, he searches the Net and even the British Library.
He sends e-mails to all the smart friends he knows, all to no avail. After over an hour of searching, he finally gives up. He wakes up the Yorkshireman and hands him £500. The Yorkshireman pockets the £500 and goes straight back to sleep.
The lawyer is going crazy not knowing the answer. He wakes the Yorkshireman up and asks, 'Well! What goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?'
The Yorkshireman reaches in his pocket, hands the lawyer £5 and goes back to sleep.

Lots of love,

Jo, Brian, Kieran and Ewan XX

Dear Katie

I walked along the river today - it was snowing. It felt peaceful and looked so beautiful.I thought about you and prayed that you may feel some of that peace by way of the teatment that you need to slow the cancer down and alleviate the pain.
I hope today has been better than yesterday and that you are able to get home with Giles and the children soon.

What do you call three goldfish milling around under the ice at the bottom of my pond? Seriously cheesed off!! Rubbish joke, but Trevor Alan and Thomas (Alan possibly female, possibly not a goldfish and he swims vertically with a limp) are totally lethargic under their snow net igloo. If only I could bring them indoors I would stop feeling the need to go out and poke the hi-tec tennis ball air vents...home from work due to snow, sooner or later I will have to do some work and stop playing with our hibernating fish. chin chin Katie, Linsey

Hi Katie,

The news of your battle and the amazing support you have through your network of family and friends continues to touch others (with some help from Sara - currently sunning herself with my brother in Thailand!)

At this time of the year (and barricaded by snow into our homes), I think lots of people get a little introspective - what have we achieved in the past year - what should we change, what should be look forward to?

From what I see in your blog, you have crammed a huge amount of immense value into your recent months and this should remind us all that life is for living! Sharing the best of times as often as possible with our nearest and dearest.

Like so many others, we wish you everything you wish for yourself! We take inspiration from the shining example you have set to your children and all of your supporters.

Good luck with the Chemo!

What about when he's on holiday? That'll be the Hip Replacement Guy...

Dear Katie,
Hope the day has brought some positive news and that you are feeling comfortable enough to read
these jokes. It's amazing how easily I managed to find them on the net. There must be some truth in them then!!! Looking forward to you retaliating when we meet next.
So here they are and I have some more for the next few days.

Question: If a blonde and a brunette fell off a building, who would hit the ground first?
Answer: The brunette - the blonde would have to stop for directions!

The assistant asked the blonde if she would like her pizza cut into six pieces or twelve.

"Six please" she said, "I could never eat twelve!"

A blonde was walking down the road with a healthy looking pig under her arm. As she passed the bus stop, someone asked,

"Where did you get that?"

The pig replied,

"I won her in a raffle!"

A person went into the office kitchen one morning and found a new blonde girl painting the walls. She was wearing a new fur coat and a nice denim jacket.

Thinking this was a little strange, he asked her why she was wearing them rather than old clothes or an overall.

She showed him the instructions on the tin,

"For best results, put on two coats".

My fingers have been crossed all day for you.

Another joke for you

A high school couple Johnny and Suzie had been dating for 2 years but Suzie had very conservative parents so she had never told them about Johnny.
One day she announced, "Johnny Fridays my 18th birthday, I want you to come over and meet my parents, then Saturday they will be going away for the weekend and I want us to DO IT"
Johnny was ecstatic and the day of the dinner he went out and bought flowers for Suzie and chocolates for her mum. He then stopped at the pharmacy to buy some condoms.
The Pharmacist asked "Do you want the 2 pack, 3 pack or 12 pack"?
Johnny responded, "you know it's going to be a busy weekend so I'll take the 12 pack"
Johnny headed to Suzies house gave the flowers to her and the chocolate to her mum, Suzie's father joined them for dinner. Johnny asked if he could say grace before the meal and he sat there quietly for 10 minutes almost in a meditative state.
Suzie turned towards him and whispered, "Johnny you never told me you were religious"
Johnny turned and replied, "Suzie you never told me your dad was a Pharmacist"

Lots of love

some of my favourite though admittedly crap jokes are:
An invisible man married an invisible woman. The kids were nothing to look at either.

How do you get holy water? Boil the hell out of it.

What do Eskimos get from sitting on the ice too long? Polaroids.

What's the difference between an oral thermometer and a rectal thermometer? The taste.

What's the difference between roast beef and pea soup? Anyone can roast beef.

Where do you get virgin wool from? Ugly sheep.

have you heard about Viagra eye drops?
they make you look hard.
